Churros with chocolate are one of the most typical sweets in the country, don’t miss them!
This typical dish of Spanish gastronomy was born in Madrid in the 19th century, where it began to be sold at street fairs as a very economical breakfast. At first it was called pan fruit and was eaten alone, but years later someone had the great idea of dipping it in a cup of chocolate and the combination was so explosively delicious that, from then on, they have always gone hand in hand. However, its original recipe comes from China in the 12th century, where they already offered the original churro for breakfast, the youtiao, wrapped in salt and accompanied by soy milk or spicy sauce and rice. In Spain it was decided to change salt for sugar and, finally, dip it in chocolate. It is made from flour and sugar. Years later, the porra was born from the churro, a broader and larger version with a similar but different flavor.
